Work Experience

Since the year 2000, Anna has worked for Tom Doherty Associates, LLC, in some capacity or another.  Currently, she is a consulting editor, which means that she acquires and edits books project by project.  If you want her to acquire your project, you are going to have to be pretty amazing, since she is very picky.  See her Submission Guidelines for how to submit your work to her.

Prior to becoming a consulting editor, Anna conceived and executed Tom Doherty Associates’ first dedicated romance imprint, Tor Romance. For the first two years of its existence, Tor Romance focused exclusively on the genre of paranormal romance. It became a great success, and currently has some of the most successful paranormal romance books on its list. Its authors include USA Today bestseller Susan Kearney, USA Today bestsellers Cathy Clamp & C. T. Adams, USA Today bestseller Elizabeth Vaughan, as well as successful, award-winning, reader-beloved authors like Patti O’Shea, Patricia Waddell, Jordan Summers, and Claire Delacroix.

In 2007, Tor Romance expanded its boundaries to include romantic suspense, debuting with Susan Kearney’s Kiss Me Deadly (July 2007). Over the course of the next few years, working closely with the new head of the imprint, editor Heather Osborn, Tor Romance expects to continue its successful paranormal titles, and continue expanding into romantic suspense—and hopefully other romance subgenres as well.

Anna’s other work experience related to publishing includes copyediting, proofreading, writing articles and lecturing on publishing, specializing in explaining the business and finance of the publishing industry.

Work experience not related to publishing includes working as a computer tech for JonKeith Communications, Inc. working various helpdesks at the New School University, coaching gymnastics, and website/graphic design. She's also great with a cash register, and fantastic at working a grill and deep frying. You need a vegan club sandwich, she's your gal.
